If you’ve had a thing for Bimota Tesi 3, this modified Hero MotoCorp Passion will definitely grab your attention. It isn’t as exotic, or muscular as the Italian legend but it’s a commendable attempt to bring something unique to the subtle Hero Passion. The base bike used is a 2001 Hero MotoCorp (then Hero Honda) Passion. The motorcycle is modified into a cafe racer with an extensive overhaul and a lot of unique bits. The headlight, for example, is a twin unit that sits on either sides of the motorcycle.
The stock handlebar has been replaced by a clip-on while the factory installed clutch and brake levers have been exchanged with adjustable, aftermarket units. The conventional mirrors have been replaced by bar-end mounted units. But the biggest upgrade is the hub-centre steering system.
The steering, suspension and braking elements are completely independent in Hub-centre steering, thus eliminating the nose dives during hard braking.Rake and trail of the bike are also adjustable by pitching the threads of the quadrilateral tie rods.
We’re not sure if the budget commuter focused engine has received an upgrade too.
But does the system work? The cafe racer, with its unusual headlight position, is claimed to have been tested for over 2,500 kilometres and is said to have withstood strongly through on- and off-road conditions. Check out the custom Hero Passion in action in the video below:
